The snow is piling high
We tried to make it work
But it’s been freezing since July

There’s no easy way to say it
It never comes out right
It’s colder than the winter
and darker than the night
But “talk to you later”
or “see you soon” is just a lie
Sometimes
All there is to say is goodbye

You walked out the door
Right past the Christmas tree
Like so many times before
Just this time without me
