Sound of the Country
Written by: Tony Castricone (2013)

These New York streets
really make my blood flow
This city never sleeps
Welcome to the Big Show
There’s a lot of eye candy
It’s a big playground
But lately I’ve been craving something
I’ll never hear in Midtown

It’s the sound of tires on gravel
A mosquito about to bite
It’s the sound of diesel burning all day
and a fire burning all night
All that peace and quiet
is one big symphony
The sound of the country
sounds like home to me

There are too many sirens
Gotta get the hell outta dodge
Not enough Garth Brooks
Too much Nicky Minaj
Man, I miss West Texas
Traffic has me stuck
Makes me wanna trade this Lexus
for a beat up pickup truck

And the sound of tires on gravel
A mosquito about to bite
It’s the sound of diesel burning all day
and a fire burning all night
All that peace and quiet
is one big symphony
The sound of the country
sounds like home to me

Driver, take me out to Queens
Drop me off at LGA
Got my suitcase and six strings
I’m heading home today
